One weekend in September we got the urge to visit a national monument. We packed everyone into the car, filled our tank up with gas, and headed up to Vernal to spend some time at Dinosaur National Monument. We had a great time together and made memories that I for one will never forget.
Our crew on the way to Vernal.
Such a pretty pink.
Our adventurous ragamuffins.
We ate at Denny's for dinner that night and for many of our kids it was their first time eating at a real restaurant. Eric and I are not big fans of paying money to watch our children fall apart and destroy things. Thankfully everyone is getting a little older and we had a very pleasant time.
This girl got the very blessed opportunity to sit next to mom AND dad.
Adam decided that our food smelled weird and he slowly began to slide down the bench to the other table which was empty. Oh Adam......
Our hotel room was a suite and everyone found a place to sleep. Adam and Caleb took the pull-out couch. They felt pretty grown-up out there.
James took all the leftover blankets and pillows and made himself a nest on the floor. Such a cozy sleeper.
Finally at the Dinosaur National Monument.
That's a pretty big dino bone!
I just love these people.
There are dinosaur bones in that wall that you can touch.
It was pretty cool.
Me and my oldest. He grows up a little more everyday and I really like the individual he is becoming.
I am the mom which means I am in charge of holding things when other people don't want them. This is from David.
He is such a good dad. It's pretty awesome to watch your chosen friend and partner parent littles.
After our visit to the National Monument we decided to drive a bit to hike Harpers Corner Trail. Part of our route was on a dirt road which was very bumpy and led to our children doing this.
We stopped a few times to let people stretch their legs. We are really not a selfie family.
Colorado state line! There was no sign because we were on the dirt road but gps told me it was so.
Pink went exploring......
Our minivan didn't like the dirt road as much as we did. We had to buy two new tires a month later.....
We finally made it to our destination! Harpers Corner Trail! With a length of 2.3 miles and an elevation gain of 347 feet it was the perfect hike for our little family.
The views from the top, which included a vista of the winding green river, were stunning.
Pretty sure they are pointing at our last mile marker there. They were pretty happy to reach the end.
Passing the Colorado State line on our way back home. This time with sign.
Goodbye Dinosaur National monument! We sure did enjoy you!
