Grandpa Todd's Garden and Menagerie

One of the perks of visiting Grandpa Todd and Grandma Pamela is spending time outside with Grandpa. He does such interesting things in the backyard and the kids love to follow him around and ask myriads of questions.

Pulling carrots. Doesn't that garden look amazing?!

Trimming the greens off the carrots to feed to the animals.

He seems pretty happy with his haul.

James brought in some corn for dinner.

Rebekah found some strawberries in the garden. Most of hers went straight in her mouth.

Caleb, on the other hand, took great pride in filling his bucket.

David also managed to fill his own bucket while Rebekah stole Grandpa's for the picture.

David waited for his strawberries to be cleaned before he ate them.

Or should I say inhaled them.

These two needed to take a break from the harvest. I think they climbed up on the chair to escape the red ants that were prowling down below.

Searching for potatoes.

Caleb especially loves to hang with Grandpa outside. They have lots of sweet conversations.

David giving the turtle a pat.

And James holding a baby chick.

Caleb got to hold one too while Grandpa put another on his shoulder for the picture.

Someone came to buy some birds while we were there and the boys thought they would "help." That may be the last time grandpa tries to sell birds while we are there ;)

One evening Grandpa took everyone out to feed the birds some bread.

A few of the birds are super friendly due to grandpa's training and came quite close which thrilled my kids.

I love the enchanted look on their faces. Grandpa's menagerie is simply amazing.
