Our Caleb had his first birthday in the beginning of April. He was oblivious to the fact that it was his birthday as are all one-year-olds but he sure had fun during the festivities.
We didn't quite know what to get Caleb for his birthday because both he and Adam are very blessed and don't really lack anything to play with. I wanted to make sure that we got him something though so he didn't look back at birthday photos later and wonder why he was neglected. We took both Adam and Caleb to Toys "R" Us the night before Caleb's birthday to look around for the perfect present. Nothing really stood out to us until we rounded the corner of an aisle and saw the sporting goods which, of course, included tons of different balls. We knew our search was over as Caleb began to point excitedly and say "Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball!" over and over again. Eric and I were ecstatic at our good luck (the balls weren't very expensive) and Caleb was so excited that he held the package of balls in his lap the whole way home. It took all my powers of distraction to get them away from him when we got home so we could save them for the next day.
Have you ever seen anyone so happy?
Seriously, we are the best parents ever!
Still smiling!
Everyone was happy that day. Adam was happy because we bought a little golf set for Caleb as well which Adam immediately assumed was his. Luckily Caleb was too infatuated with his balls to care.
We let Caleb cut his own cake with a butter knife. He, being a boy, had more fun with the knife than the cake.
Life is good!
That sounds like it was a lot of fun! I am sorry that I missed it. I hope that you're all doing great. Hopefully we will see you soon! Happy late birthday Caleb!
