Balls!

The semester is over! The semester is over! The semester is over!.........Did I mention the semester is over? Now, for a few months at least, I get to be just a mom. Life is wonderful!

I made a list during the semester of things I wanted to blog about but didn't have time for so there may be quite a few of these in the next few days. Sorry about the overload. I am going in chronological order for the sake of the blogging journal.

Balls!

Balls are perhaps one of the most important toys when you have a houseful of boys like I do. We have basketballs, baseballs, footballs, tennis balls, handballs, bouncy balls, foam balls, plastic balls, colored balls, light up balls....you name a ball and we probably have it hiding somewhere.

Two Christmases ago my brother Taylor and his wife Lauren took our ball loving to the extreme. They purchased a bag full of 150 plastic balls like the ones you would find in a ball pit at a play place and gave them to Adam. The first thing Adam did was open the bag and dump them all over my mother's house. Adam's intense enjoyment at watching balls roll all over the floor fooled me into thinking that this was one of the best toys ever.

However, I now have two boys (soon to be three) who think that dumping a huge bag of balls all over the floor is the best activity ever. Please keep in mind that once the bag is dumped, it takes me literally weeks to clean up all the balls. They roll EVERYWHERE. The green balls are especially elusive and mischievous. I can feel them laughing at me from their hiding places. Eric likes to remind me that inanimate objects do not talk and especially do not taunt but I know he is mistaken. The balls have a mind and a purpose all their own.

Caleb thinks the balls are AMAZING!

A sidenote to Taylor and Lauren:  I realize that the birth of your new Emmett may have you shaking in fear wondering "How will she retalitate this Christmas?" I tell you to be at peace. He won't be quite old enough to appreciate "fun" toys yet. You get the year off.
