So one night in December while wandering around pinterest I found an Activities Advent Calendar that I really liked. It looked like it had been put together by a Mormon family who lived in Utah and, since that currently fits our situation perfectly, I decided we should give it a go. Some of the things on the list were discarded because they were way too expensive or not suitable for our young children but we really enjoyed doing the rest of them and I look forward to trying again next year as well.
One of the things we did in December (since I forgot to take pictures of nearly everything else) was take a drive around Thanksgiving Point. The boys had so much fun. We let them leave the safety of their carseats for our slow, wandering ride through all the lights that had been hung up and they thought that it was the most amazing experience ever. Unfortunately, Adam, thinking that leaving his carseat was an automatic blessing when looking at Christmas lights during the holiday season, continued to bug us about it constantly in the days following our visit. This caused us to cut many a trip to other locations short. However, I would still make this trip again in a heartbeat. The lights were lovely, my children were enchanted by them, and it totally felt like Christmas.
Just some of lovely displays we saw as we drove around. Sorry they are blurry. There was a car behind us and Eric couldn't stop for more than a milisecond.
This was one of the boys' favorites because of the dinosaur. It was my favorite because of the flowers.
I swear this sign says Merry Christmas if you look real close. Or maybe it was Happy Holidays?.......
We stopped to see the reindeer after our drive through the lights. Sadly, I couldn't get even one of my boys to stand where I could take a picture of both them and the reindeer. This is as good as it got.
We also walked through some of the shops there and found a botanical garden at the back of one of them. The boys enjoyed running around in circles while they were in there. I enjoyed not having to worry about them breaking anything expensive. Does anyone actually shop in those stores?!
Caleb pointing to something interesting in the garden.
James enjoying a moment with his dad. He is a total daddy's boy. I would be jealous but they are just way too cute together.
All my boys at Thanksgiving Point. I am such a proud mother (and wife).
