Adam didn't pass his vision screening at the school in December. I got a notice about it from the school nurse a few days later which I promptly misread and threw away because I'm pregnant and slightly unbalanced. The school finally called me when I didn't return the form I was supposed to have the opthamologist fill out for them. After some confusion and embarrassment on my part, I obtained a second form and made an appointment with the eye doctor. Adam was not happy. Unfortunately, there had already been some glasses teasing going on in Adam's class and he did not want to be the new recipient of everyone's attention. I felt his pain but knew we had to get his eyes checked anyway. Off we went to visit Dr. Bird who confirmed the diagnoses of the school nurse and prescribed some new eyewear. Adam was devastated but he did think Dr. Bird and all his awesome medical equipment were pretty cool.
Adam scored the big glasses on our way home because the opthamologist dilated his eyes.
We picked out some new glasses that were as black and blue as we could find. Adam still didn't want them but we ordered them anyway. Poor thing.
