Fourth Of July

We celebrated the 4th of July at home this year and it was fabulous!

Kate made the most delicious patriotic cake to celebrate.

Patriotic inside and out!

Despite what Caleb's face is saying it was a big hit with the kids.

See?

We weren't allowed to set off real fire works around our home because we back up to BLM land and there is always a chance of wildfires. However, that didn't stop us from lighting some little sparklers in the driveway.

Everyone was super happy with them.

This girl had such fun with her daddy.

He is a perfect protector.

Go James! Go!

My happy Caleb.

Jasie even let one burn. She was much more stoic about it than the kids.

Sparklers for all!

Everyone was assigned their own cement pad for safety reasons. It worked pretty well.

After the sparklers we threw a few smoke bombs.

The boys love jumping through the smoke that comes after the sparks. I am not so much a fan of them smelling like sulfur afterwards but it's only once a year.

My four weirdos.

A little green for your enjoyment.

And some pink because we are secure in our manhood.

Gabby and Holly were NOT happy with the fireworks.

Dad was their only comfort.

My pink striking a pretty pose.

After we were done with our own small fireworks it was time to watch the big ones from our hill. We decided to make it a true party with refreshments and comfortable seating.

This praying mantis thought he would watch the show with us as well. Unfortunately, some of the kids were not okay with that and the mantis was relocated.

Handsome boy.

Pretty girl.

A crying James who swore the praying mantis bit him before it was relocated.

It was a lovely night for firework watching as you can see here. We have an amazing view from our little abode. What a wonderful 4th of July!
