When we moved last year I tossed our old artificial Christmas Tree because it had been destroyed by children and cats. Tossing the old one meant that this year I got a new one! After deciding that our vaulted ceilings meant that we needed a really big tree, I purchased an enormous 12 foot monstrosity that took an abundance of muscle and patience to assemble and decorate. I have to say that if I had it to do over again I would definitely knock a few feet off for good measure. Oh well, it certainly was impressive.......
Even my tall husband needed to stand at the top of the ladder to put that last section on.
The kids sure enjoyed decorating once it was up. They took turns climbing the ladder to put the ornaments on.
My happy decorators.
I posted this to Instagram. Once the tree had been up a while, the ornaments and ribbons slowly migrated upwards to protect them from Rebekah who enjoys collecting items for fun. Meanwhile, the top of the tree slowly lost its volume as the cats, who used the tree as a jungle gym the whole time it was up, could no longer fit inside due to the shortening of the top branches and chose to climb around the outside instead. So, so pretty.
James playing with the cats who were hiding under the tree. Ollie was super confused the day I took it down. He just couldn't understand why I had to take his favorite thing away. Next year Ollie. Next year.
