The Beach I

During Eric's third and last weekend visit with us in California we drove to the beach to enjoy a few hours of sand and sea. It was pure impulse that sent us there and by the time we arrived it was after 4:30 in the afternoon. Adam had already been to the beach a few other times in his short life but this was Caleb's first visit and James' as well. It was so fun to watch them experience something I take so much for granted as a Southern California girl.

Adam remembering how waves work with the help of his dad.
He kept wanting to go out further and further. The waves were just pulling his little body every which way.
A happy moment for daddy.
Adam enjoying a big one.
Adam walking on the pier.
Caleb's first introduction to the water. He wasn't all that impressed with it.
Another happy moment for dad.
Caleb trying to figure out why I had brought him to this strange land.
Caleb realizing that sand is just glorified dirt and therefore should be cherished and enjoyed.
And used to swim in.
And used to wallow in.
Until he was completely plastered with it. It took me days to completely remove it from his body.
Happiest boy ever. I felt like such a good mom.
James did three things while we were at the beach: eat, sleep, and try to convince me through concentrated staring to take him back home.
This is the concentrated staring. I couldn't blame him. There really wasn't anything at the beach for him.
"No really, why are we here?"
