Rowely's Red Barn

The Saturday of James sealing we planned a trip with my parents to Rowley's Red Barn in Santaquin. We pass by the Red Barn on our way to and from visiting my parents in California and I have often wanted to stop and see what they have there. We have never actually made the stop because it is only about 30 minutes from home and I am always either eager to get to California or eager to get home. This year I heard from a friend of mine that there were fall family activities at Rowley's and I knew that my boys would love spending some time there. My parents and brother Joseph were nice enough to come with us which made this an even more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Grandma Pamela, Adam, and James on the hayride out to the festivities. It was a big trailer pulled by a large tractor. As we bounced and jumped along down the bumpy dirt paths I thought about all of the poor pioneers that had to ride in wagons. I think I would have opted for walking. The boys had a wonderful time though and I was grateful for that.

Happy smile from a happy boy.

I know this picture is fuzzy but I just had to include it. Adam's adoration for his little brother is just so apparent. What a precious moment for a mother to catch.

Caleb clearly did not want his picture taken.

The first thing the boys did when we got to where we were going is slide down these huge slides. Adam was a game trooper and slid down the smallest slide over and over again, always in the same position.

He slid down the big slide once but it freaked him out and he quickly returned to the smaller one. It was so amazing to me that he was choosing to slide at all that I didn't care which one he was using.

Caleb was a game cookie too and slid down several times. Don't you just love that look of terror? He had it every time he slid down but his fear never stopped him from climbing back up and trying it again.

Eric took Caleb down the big slide once. Same look of terror. Caleb wouldn't go down this one by himself.

Grandpa Todd was nice enough to take James down the small slide. Being six-months-old, James was mostly oblivious to the whole adventure although he did enjoy his grandpa.

After the slides the boys wandered over to the fruit crate maze. It was short enough for the adults to see where they were going but tall enough to hide my little ones. Adam thought it was wonderful and made it successfully to the end.

Caleb walked through with Grandpa. They also made it all the way to the end.

This is our attempt at a family picture. Everyone is looking pretty pleasant except for James who wanted to escape the glaring sun.

James and Grandpa Todd sharing a moment.

Such a good boy.

Adam and Caleb enjoyed playing in this huge sandbox as well. All I was thinking about was the sand that would need to be washed off before we left for the temple.

It took a ton of prodding to get Caleb to look up at the camera but he thought this game with dad was so much fun. What a goof.

Adam asked me specifically to take a picture with him in the pumpkins. I was so honored. It's too bad the wind and my hair had to have an argument at the same time Eric snapped the picture. Oh well.....
Caleb wanted to take home EVERY pumpkin. After all, they all looked like big, orange, round balls.

Caleb on the hayride home. Grandma had given him some dark chocolate covered blueberries to eat. Despite his facial expression he really liked them. He just didn't like it when they melted in his hand.

Caleb saying goodbye to the horses we passed on the way back to the barn. Such a fun day for everyone.

  1. I think you have the three cutest little blond-headed boys anywhere! Love all the pumpkins and fall festivities. What a good mom to give in and take them there. : )
