Caleb Is Two!

My Caleb had a birthday! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I am always so proud when my boys survive another year of being boys. Let's face it: they don't always make the best choices when it comes to safety and common sense. I keep making suggestions in the hopes that eventually someone will catch on and say: "You're right mom! That table IS too high to jump off of!" But no one does. Maybe one day.... Until then, I pray and trust that their guardian angels are paying attention at the appropriate moment.

Caleb's birthday was so fun. He was oblivious to the whole thing until we pulled the cake and presents out but Adam was excited for him and that was good enough for me. I love brotherly love.

Caleb's cake and presents. Yes, that is a huge crater in the middle of Caleb's cake. One day I will be talented enough to make a truly artsy cake but until then all I can do is layer. Unfortunately, the top layer of this cake was a little heavy and split in two. Luckily Caleb is a toddler and didn't notice. It will be years before he seems this picture and knows what happened.

Caleb loved his cake but didn't actually eat any of it on a plate. He took the full on stick-your-finger-in-and-take-what-you-want approach. It rendered half the cake inedible but he seemed incredibly happy with the whole thing and it was his birthday after all.

Caleb's present: Chase the Rescue Bot. Caleb was old enough this year to recognize that this was HIS present. It took a long time for him to let Adam see it. Even now he has it with him all the time, even when he is sleeping.

One hand on Chase, one hand on the cake.

Yes, that is frosting on your finger.

A toolbox for our tool loving boy. We were a little hesitant to buy him toy tools because he has rejected other fake tools in the past. However, he seemed to like these pretty well.

Checking out the pliers.

James decided if Caleb wasn't going to eat his cake normally he would do it for him. What a considerate brother. Happy Birthday my sweet Caleb! You are the most amazing two-year-old I know.
