We are loving our new place. I haven't found anything to complain about yet. It might be the enormous relief I'm feeling from leaving the awful place we were living before but I don't think so. I think we have truly found the place that Heavenly Father wants us to be right now. Hallelujah!
We moved into a four-plex which really wasn't my ideal at first. I knew that a four-plex would mean living above or below someone and, after living in a basement for so long, I wasn't really looking forward to either prospect. I also knew that a four-plex would limit the amount of interaction that Adam had with other kids, to the few families who happened to be living there. Since we have been without neighborhood friends for a while, Adam's closest playmates were his brothers. He didn't mind that at all but I felt he would progress better socially if his playmates could actually talk.
So, when we went to check out our new place for the first time it was with much hesitation. However, from the moment I saw it I was all smiles. It was indeed a four-plex but each unit had an upstairs and a downstairs which meant we could enter on the main floor and no one would be stomping around above us except for us. It also had almost everything else on my list of must haves.......
A kid friendly neighborhood with a swing-set nearby and LOTS of kids. Every family in our complex has four kids, all under the age of nine. One of the mothers is set to pop again two days after David is due. There are children swarming EVERYWHERE.
This one is ours. It looks more inviting now that we have actually moved in.
This is our cul-de-sac. All of the complexes in the picture also house twelve million children. It is hard to get out of our parking lot sometimes because we are afraid of running small people over.
This is the swing-set next to our building. I think it belongs to the people in #2 but that doesn't stop everyone in the neighborhood from using it. I'm not quite sure what they did to make the slide fit over that huge rock but it seems sturdy. Weird but sturdy.
My youngest two on the swing-set. Caleb loved it as you can see. James was just amazed to be moving.
The other side of the complex has a sandbox. You would be amazed at how quiet they all are when they are playing in the sand. Such concentration....
This is the neighborhood trampoline. I don't really know who it belongs to but Adam is in heaven.
A view from our front door. Living room, dining room. All the house pictures will be a little cluttered because I was still trying to find a place for everything.
Dining room, kitchen, a confused James.
Front room, half bath, storage closet, stairs leading to the upper level.
Stairs leading up, my own washer and dryer (I had to share at the last place). I did not put the cutesy saying on the wall above the washer and dryer but it is growing on me.
Stairs leading down. We are not quite sure what the little area below the windows is for but I put stuff there all the same.
James room/toy room. The neighborhood kids came to check out the toys when we first moved in. The train set was very popular.
The toy room closet. Love the shelves.
Adam and Caleb's room. It is the smallest room and has no windows but they don't seem to care. They only use it for sleeping anyway.
Adam and Caleb's closet. Yes. It all fit.
Master bedroom. Sorry the bed isn't made. I can't be in charge of everything :)
The dresser mirror that made it through move number eight without breaking. Such a miracle.
Our walk-in closet and closed door leading to the bathroom.
The bathroom actually has two doors, one from our room and one from the hallway which I think is weird but I am trying to live with it.
That's it! We moved! We have a lovely new apartment and you are all welcome to come see it whenever you get the urge. Just let me know ahead of time so I can clear a path for you :)
