The boys were super excited for Halloween this year. They planned costumes, talked about trick-or-treating and tried costumes on that they never ended up wearing. All in all, it was a very enjoyable holiday.
The boys heard their father mention certain costume options weeks before the day in question and they ran with it, never looking back. That meant my costume preparations started early in the month. The boys all wanted to help me make Caleb's costume and they did a pretty good job although there was paint everywhere after James was done with his part of it......
The finished product.
Adam's school had a costume parade after class on Halloween day and we went to see him walk around with his classmates. Caleb and James thought the whole thing was pretty cool.
I was so proud that Adam chose to wear his costume. It's something he wouldn't have even considered last year. He just keeps growing.
Love that shy smile.
We carved our pumpkins the Sunday before Halloween which gave them just enough time to rot before the big day. When will I ever learn? Adam was very cautious about touching the pumpkin guts. They were too slimy for him.
Caleb was the same way although he pretended to make an effort.
James was all in every gross gut of the way.
I think he rather enjoyed being all gross and slimy.
And he did a pretty good job cleaning the pumpkin out too.
David's pumpkin. He got the simplest one because he can't voice his opinion right now.
James's pumpkin. He just said he wanted a kitty.
Caleb's pumpkin. It think his choice was swayed by Adam a little.
Adam's pumpkin. He was very in to Luigi's haunted mansion.
Man they look good!
Adam was determined to be a fireman again this year. His costume broke after he was done with it so he may need to choose something new for next year.
My toothless fireman.
After hearing that Adam wanted to be a fireman, Eric started suggesting costumes for everyone else. Caleb became a fire truck.
He got tired carrying his big box around and had to take a break in the stroller for a few minutes while we were trick-or-treating.
James became fire. He has got to be the cutest fire ever!
He still has traces of red in his hair but it was totally worth it.
David became our firehouse dalmatian. He spent most of time in the stroller but we appreciated his participation anyway.
That slightly dirty nose was all he let me do in the way of face makeup. Not very striking, I know. Maybe next year.
Eric was water. Thankfully the blue did come out of his hair later that night. I can't imagine that blue hair would have gone over well at work.....
This was our motley crew on the hunt for candy. We had many words of praise for our creative and matching costumes.
Once we were done trick-or-treating we returned home to eat some of our stash. Adam found this little hideout to protect his candy from his roving younger brothers.
Caleb, our resident sweet tooth, immediately dove in and devoured everything he could.
James, alway safety conscious, had to show me things before he ate them.
David couldn't waste time opening and eating candy before he had found another one he thought looked even better. Choices, choices, choices. Happy Halloween!
