We bought annual passes to the San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park in October and decided that we would hit the zoo during this visit. The boys were excited to go, as they always are, and we were blessed this time around to have Grandpa and Grandma join us for the few hours we were there. Life was so, so good.
Look carefully because that rhino in the background was the only animal I took a picture of during our visit there. Obviously humans are the only things of importance when it comes to my photography. Adam was having a hard day that day. Poor Adam.
One of the first things we did while we were there was go on the bus ride that gives everyone a tour around the zoo. We had to wait in line for a few minutes before we were able to get on. Luckily, the boys were good sports and played around our feet while the line slowly moved onward.
Adam waiting patiently.
James being a ham.
David playing with grandpa in line. As you can see, we broke down this trip and bought a leash, oh, I'm sorry, baby harness, for the little one. We decided we would rather be those kind of parents than the ones that lost a kid. Funny how child number four was the first one to need one. He certainly came with his own personality.
James really wanted to show Grandma whatever was over there.
Everyone still waiting in line. Our side took a little longer because Adam wanted to ride on the top of the bus and the line to that one was more popular. Poor grandpa, still trying to wrangle David.
We finally got seated on the bus. Before we took off James took some time to bond with his dad.
These were so cute I had to include all of them.
I want to kiss both their cheeks.
Everyone was really excited to be on the bus.
Everyone, everyone.
Except for Adam who was still having a hard day. It is so hard to be six.
David sat with grandpa for some of the trip and was quite infatuated with grandpa's face.
It seems to have lulled him into a temporary state of serenity. Poor grandpa had more than one scratch on his face when the ride was over. We're sorry grandpa.
James sat with grandma and kept pointing out to her everything he could see or everything thought he could see. There was alot.
After the bus ride we decided we were hungry and went to buy some lunch followed by yummy ice cream cones bought by grandpa. James thought his ice cream cone was the most amazing thing ever.
Caleb dove right into his.
My two middle boys hard at work.
David got my cone after I had eaten most of it. He tends to wear things more than eat them.
Caleb's cone eventually started to melt and he began to lick the sides in the hopes of keeping it contained.
Even with the tiny amount of ice cream he received, David still managed to make a big mess of himself and called for some wipes to get himself cleaned up.
After lunch we went to play at the safari park where everyone had a good time and only caused me a minute amount of stress as I lost them over and over again in the big crowd of kids there.
James using the speaker phone.
And climbing a trellis.
And climbing inside another trellis.
Caleb thought he would do it too.
Then they thought they would climb on top of the trellis. Since the other children seemed opposed to their doing this, they really were becoming nuisances at this point, I moved them to another area to play. Oh Berg Boys.
This is Adam who got into a discussion with another mother about how she really couldn't make up the rules of play for all the children at the park in order to make things easier for her own child. By the time Eric got close enough to hear the conversation it was mostly over. I would say the other mother was not impressed with the opinions of our six-year-old. Oh, Adam.....
James with a present that the grandparents were nice enough to buy him. I'd say he looks pretty pleased.
And David who once again pretty much sums up everyone's feelings about our day at the zoo. My goodness, wasn't that exhausting! Amazingly fun and exhausting.
