Seattle

Drum roll please! I have been blessed to be married to the choice of my heart for ten years now. That's right people. Ten years, five kids, three states, nine residences, twelve (?) jobs, two colleges, one family history degree, and one real estate license later and we are still going strong. Hooray for the captains of Team Berg! To celebrate our amazing accomplishment we dropped the kids of at Eric's sister's house and flew to Seattle to enjoy a long weekend alone.

Waiting in Salt Lake for our departing flight. By this time I was already starting to miss my five appendages. What a weirdo.

We were a little spoiled on our trip and got to fly first class both ways. It was so nice not to have to sit next to anyone except Eric but I felt just a little sheepish as dozens of people filed past us to take their seats in the back. Survivors guilt I guess. We did have a couple behind us who had started their imbibing a little earlier in the day and didn't mind continuing it while we were on the plane. Luckily, they were quite pleasant tipplers and the flight was so quiet that I got to watch a whole movie from beginning to end with no interruptions. That hasn't happened since......you get the picture.

The amazing view from our hotel room. Seriously! Look at that! That tall building to the right of the big square one was my favorite. I loved its coloring and its architecture. Perhaps next time we are there I will learn its name.......

Our first full day in Seattle we took a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel. It's 175 feet tall and is made mostly of glass so a person can see all of the surrounding Elliott Bay. This is Eric's unhappy "I hate heights but I am doing this because I love you" face.

This is my super happy face because I can't wait to go up, up, and away!

He was a little nervous as the wheel started to turn and our gondola followed the others out over the bay.

I'm afraid I had no such feelings of nervousness or fear. I loved all the sights and the feeling of the wheel turning underneath me. Such a fun ride.

A shot of the bay from our gondola. Yep. We were up really high.

Pike Place Market. I could have spent a million dollars there. Yep. A million dollars. I didn't have time to take pictures of anything there because I was too busy shopping but there was food, art, flowers, fish, jewelry, knick knacks, etc., I loved it all. Eric was such a good sport to let me walk around to my heart's content.

I believe this is the park that is at the end of Pike Place Pier. It was a little scary if I remember correctly.  There is the Great Wheel in the distance.

Eric and I are horrible selfie takers (wrong generation) so there are alot of single shots of us being in in the same place.......

Our first dinner in Seattle was at the Sazerac Restaurant. We were super tired from our day and it was so good to relax with some yummy food and sweet drinks.

Eric and his yummy food. We ate at many super delicious restaurants in Seattle but chose to enjoy the food in most of them rather than waste time snapping photos. I think our favorite was the Metropolitan Grill. I have never had anything so delicious in my entire life than their roast beef au jus sandwich.

I had to powder my nose before our harbor cruise on day two and when I emerged I found this. It took me a minute to realize what I was looking at. I guess my husband is the lost member of the rat pack.

Our boat for the Argosy Harbor Cruise, the"Spirit Of Seattle" In hindsight, we probably would have enjoyed a ferry ride more (the cruise director's presentation was a little corny) but it just wasn't as convenient at the time. As it was, we had a good time with the sight-seeing mases.

A view from the boat. Look! There's my favorite building again in the middle!

A rare selfie. We had to work hard for that one.

Eric dockside.

The beautiful Seattle skyline.

Our first view of the Space Needle.

Isn't that just lovely. I swear I would move to Seattle in a heartbeat if I could.

On our way back from the cruise we wandered up Post Alley and found the Market Theater Gum Wall.

Yep, that's chewed gum that people have stuck to the wall in the hopes of expressing themselves. I found it all sorts of interesting. Eric just found it gross.

Day three found us at the Seattle temple. It was probably our most expensive temple visit ever since we had to pay for cab rides there and back but it was totally worth it.

I loved visiting another House of the Lord and was so grateful that Eric and I got to go inside together during our tenth anniversary celebration.

After the temple we prepped for the Washington Huskies Game.

And when I say prep I mean prep. Look at those decked out fans! Our seats were just a few rows back on the 50 yard line at it totally ruined me for all other football games. I am now a spoiled, folding chair, 50 yard liner fan. I won't settle for anything less ;)

Our last night in Seattle we traveled to the Space Needle to eat dinner at SkyCity, the restaurant at the top of the Space Needle that rotates slowly so everyone inside can enjoy a 360 degree view.

One of the views from our table. Wowser.

Beautiful me.

Handsome hubby.

The SkyCity Photographer's picture of us. Lovin' that flash.

Our selfie. I think we need one of those stick things.

And finally, our desert. This is the Lunar Orbiter complete with dry ice and scrumptious chocolate ice cream. I tell you, Seattle was such an amazing experience. I am so grateful that we had this opportunity to spend time together alone in such a beautiful city in commemoration of such an impressive occasion. Yay us!
