Our oldest child turned nine in July which means I am getting old. Very old. Unfortunately, Adam's birthday this year was fraught with anguish because he had a flare up of of his juvenile recurrent parotitis the day before and was in so much pain that he had a hard time enjoying anything. We ended up celebrating his birthday in sections, depending on what he was able to do. We started with the opening of presents because that could be done in a chair. We then moved on to his cookies (Adam doesn't eat cake) once his swelling went down. We ended with his birthday activity at Lowe's Extreme Air Sports three days after his birthday. I guess if we are looking at it positively, Adam had the blessing of having a week long birthday celebration!
A specialized birthday cake from Aunt Kate.
He LOVES these cookies. He LOVES peanut butter cups. It was a winner!
Opening presents from his sick chair.
He wanted to open it himself and got super creative in his attempts.
We finally got him a butter knife to hurry it along.
He got Disney Infinity 1.0 from Grandma Pamela.
He was super excited about it because he had wanted it for so long.
David was excited as well and tried to steal things from the box as soon as he saw them. Caught in the act.
He also got money from Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Logan which was a huge hit, as you can tell.
Money from Aunt Lauren as well.
He used all his money to buy new Disney Infinity characters on-line and as each one came in the mail he got to experience the thrill of his birthday all over again. Yay for prolonged birthdays!
