Adam is amazing. I am so glad that he was my firstborn. Heavenly Father is so smart. We celebrated Adam's fifth birthday the day we arrived in California. Before our arrival at my parent's house the boys had expressed much displeasure at being in the car for so long. Eric and I were only too grateful to hand them over to loving relatives and relax for a minute.
My wonderful sister Kate had taken over decorating and preparing for the party since I had to spend most of that day on the road. She did a spectacular job. The theme was Mario. Adam is addicted to Mario and plays it on the Wii whenever he can convince Eric and I to join in. Aunt Kate used her amazing artistic skills to draw Mario figures and had decorated the walls with them. She also made the most amazing Mario cupcakes. I could have never done this without her.
Adam loved, loved, loved this when he walked in. He was practically speechless.
Mario by Aunt Kate.
Opening his first present. I love that he gets the whole present thing now. It makes things so much more fun.
Caleb helping to open the presents. What a good brother.
Eric helping too.
So cute.
Adam got a nerf gun from my friend Jodie. She brought three others along with her knowing that the kids would want to play together. So smart.
The kids weren't the only ones who wanted to play......
Grandpa was perfectly willing to fire a few shots himself.
Jodie's cute Emily. She was a master markswoman.
Having way too much fun here.
Cute Emily.
Jodie's son Ethan fell asleep before he got to the party. That was probably a bad choice......
Adam wanted a piñata for his party this year so we bought a Mario Mushroom to serve our purposes.
He thought it was great. But the first sword proved ineffective.
The second one was a little bit better.
However, the best method seemed to be just grabbing the piñata and smashing on the ground.
It definitely worked. My parent's dog thought he should make a run for the candy too.
James somehow finagled two suckers form the broken piñata instead of one. Smart boy.
Cute cousin Emmett enjoying the spoils.
Look at those cupcakes!!! A Mario Mushroom if I ever saw one. Adam likes being the blue toad best so Aunt Kate did that instead of the traditional red. So smart.
Loving the handiwork.
Hello Luigi.
Caleb almost enjoying the cupcake. My children are so weird. Adam didn't even take one bite of these amazing creations. Just weird.
At least some people enjoyed them! Happy Birthday my Adam!
