The First Day Of Our Vacation

Eric and I planned for a long vacation in California this year. We were making preparations for our trip the day before we were going to leave when Eric's work called and let us know that they needed him to stay instead. This sudden change in plans sent my world into semi-chaos. We had planned to celebrate Adam's birthday in California and all the presents and decorations I had purchased for the party had already been mailed to my parent's house by Amazon. Adam (whose actual birthday day had been a drag) was super psyched about his future party and I just couldn't bear to disappoint him so I decided to make the trip alone with my four boys.

I knew going alone meant that I would need to leave a day early so I could stop to feed the baby along the way and still make it to California in time for the party. That being the case, I quickly packed and threw everything (including the boys) into the van. We started on our way at about 3pm without even a goodbye kiss from dad since he was still at work. Needless to say it was a very hectic and traumatic part of our lives :) We stopped at the Abbey Inn in Cedar City for the night. I spent way more than I wanted to on the room but it was the only one with a lobby that allowed me a full view of my children waiting outside in the van and rooms on the outside of the building which allowed me to make multiple trips to the room without having to leave the little ones unguarded. All in all the first part of our trip went splendidly. You will have to forgive the graininess of the pictures. The camera on my phone hated the light in the hotel room.

My four boys. Caleb thinks Adam is soooo amazing.

Hello?! Hello?! David! Can you hear me?

Loves his little brother.

Fascinated with the tv remote. As if we didn't have one at home....

Adam's blessed green blanket.

They loved playing in the closet together. They also loved that it was a mirror. Why do kids always like to look at themselves?

Adam taking his turn.

James looks like I interrupted something important. Sorry love.

Loving those eyes.

Loves his baby too.

James pretending to go to sleep. James pretended to go to sleep until about 11:30pm. Let's just say it was a very restful hotel stay for the boys but not so much for me.

Finally!
P.S. Eric's work changed their mind and he joined us at about 1am in the hotel. Yay!
