Eric and I really wanted our vacation this year to be more than just visiting family and sitting around my parent's house. Don't get me wrong. We thoroughly enjoy doing both of those things but we also like seeing the expressions in the boys faces when they are experiencing something new. For that reason we decided to take our little family to the San Diego Zoo. In retrospect, Adam was really the only one that was old enough to appreciate the trip and we should perhaps have waited a few more years for everyone else to catch up. However, we got in for free thanks to members of my family who were willing to share their guest passes with us and we were also able to go with some wonderful aunts and uncles. All in all it was a pretty awesome day.
A family picture outside the zoo. Where is David?
There he is.
Our group stopping in front of the flamingos to make our plans for the day.
Adam took his responsibility of cruise director very seriously and held on to his map all day.
Another family picture at the koala exhibit. Can't believe we are all looking the same direction.
Adam got to ride on the air trolley with his dad. He was way excited about it. I stayed with the younger three on the ground to save the expense of sending all six of us up.

My happy fliers.
Caleb on a polar bear statue.
Uncle Joseph helping Caleb to climb an even taller polar bear statue.
Caleb learning more about the rescued polar bears.
I love how he appears to be actually interested in the story.
Adam taking his turn with the oversized book.
Adam in a seal fishing hole.
Caleb doing the same.
James wandering off into a polar bear cave.
The three of them could have played in here all day. Unfortunately we had to move on to bigger and brighter things.
Like this weird thing.
Or this one.......
Awesome Uncle Joseph.
Happy cousin Emmett. He tried to pick up all of the tree fuzzies that he could find on the ground. A lofty goal if I do say so myself.
My children were NOT impressed with the camels.
Nor with the large secretary bird.
Caleb had some connection with the lions.
But only because they were asleep and he wanted to play the shushing game with Aunt Kate.
I don't think Caleb even saw the large gorilla in this exhibit.
Finally! Someone saw an animal and was excited about it. Thank you small water turtle!
