Another Day At The Beach

We couldn't visit California without spending a few hours at the beach. I am not really a fan of the beach. Sand attacks you as soon as your step out of your car and attaches to every inch of your body and gear. Fish that you can't see try to bite you as you play in the waves. Children get sand in their eyes and then try to brush it out with sand encrusted fingers. I could go on. Suffice it to say that I do not like the beach. However, I do like to watch my boys playing at the beach and this trip was especially enjoyable in that regard.

The boys were a little hesitant about the water, as always. Eric worked hard to get them psyched up about it.

He finally got James to play along. Eventually they all just started running from the waves. It was pretty cute.

Adam posing for the camera. Not quite sure where he learned this but it sure is funny.

Me and a moderately happy David and a very unhappy Caleb.

David trying to keep out of the sun. It was a hard task but I think we nailed it.

James attempting to sample seaweed.

Sand encrusted Lucky Charms. Yum!

Not quite sure what James is pointing at but he seems very authoritative.

Caleb tried to chase these seagulls. The seagulls stuck around until they realized we weren't going to feed them. Fickle.

Juice box heaven.

Adam made a sand ball.

James, seeing how much fun Adam was having, also attempted to make a sand ball.

Caleb taking a swim.

Eric decided to bury James.

James ADORED it. He wanted to sit, buried in sand, the whole time we were there.

Too bad he got so gross doing it.

Eric then tried to bury all of the boys (minus David of course).

After several failed attempts.....

Everyone finally sat still....

And the three of them were buried. James was not crying because he had been buried in large amounts of sand but because Eric had had the audacity to bury his brothers as well. We are still practicing that whole sharing thing.
