I love Easter. I know I have mentioned that before but I think I will probably take the opportunity to say it every year if you don't mind. I love Easter. I love Easter candy. I love Easter food. I love my Savior and being able to celebrate his resurrection from the dead. It is truly my favorite holiday. This year we celebrated the Easter Bunny and candy on Saturday and the Savior on Sunday. It was so awesome to be able to take a separate day and really focus on why we actually celebrate Easter instead of just lumping everything together. It is definitely something we will continue to do in the future.
Easter baskets galore. We tried to stay away from too much candy this year and focused instead on things that wouldn't lead to cavities. I think I did a pretty good job at making them super cute. Too bad nobody else noticed my design skills.
James checking out the contents of his basket.
Caleb happy with his new rescue bots. He truly believes that you can't have too many of those.
David's first Easter resulted in a permanent chocolate mouth. Not only did he eat his own but I saw him raiding his brothers' baskets as well.
Only one of those candy kabobs was his....
Everyone got a glow stick sword to do battle. They were very popular for about twenty minutes.
I made Easter bunny bum pancakes for breakfast. Eric said they looked like Easter bunny ears instead but those are definitely paws, not ears.
James enjoying his bunny creation.
After James's nap we decided to dye eggs. James wasn't really ready for the activity and neither was his hair.
Checking out dad's mad dyeing skills.
Caleb going at it. We only had one broken egg during this years dyeing so we were pretty impressed with ourselves.
Adam showing off our multi colored beauties.
When we were done with dyeing eggs we moved on to hunting them. Adam, being the oldest, was our fastest hunter. His eggs were blue.
James brought up the rear but he didn't seem to care.
Caleb's eggs were orange, James's were green and David's were yellow. Since David was taking a nap while we hunted, James took it upon himself to collect his eggs as well.
I will take a green one and a yellow one please.
Adam finished first and decided to take a peak. This is him telling me what he thought about the contents.
Admiring their haul.
James thought Easter was awesome.....
He loved everything he pulled out.
Caleb was pretty impressed too.
Adam continued to give me advice on how I could have improved my choices for the contents of the eggs. There's always next year......
I call this Easter carnage. I had to pick this same mess up several times that day until I had finally thrown enough stuff away to make the house liveable again. Perhaps next year everyone should get a small trash bag in their baskets as well......
On Sunday we celebrated the resurrection of the Savior and relearned the Easter story. We also made resurrection rolls so the kids could think about the empty tomb. I love Easter and I am so grateful that I got to celebrate it with our growing family.
