Adam's Birthday

Adam requested that we have his birthday in California this year and we happily acquiesced to his request since we had the ability to do so. Unfortunately, Eric had to stay home for work at the last minute and the boys and I decided to make the trip alone. We still wanted to celebrate Adam's birthday as a family, so we had an early family party the night before we left for California. Adam really wanted to have a picnic inside for his party so I assembled the sandwiches, fruit, and chips and set out our spread on a blanket on the floor.

David was the only one who did not join us on the floor. I didn't think everyone else would appreciate protecting their food from stealthy octopus man.

James vascilates between being a ham for the camera and throwing fits if I try to take his picture. I guess that's his prerogative as a two-year-old. This is a ham moment.

Caleb was only interested in the juice pouches. He loves juice pouches.

A Caleb smile for mom.

Uncle Kevin and cousin Seth also came to celebrate. Isn't that a darling baby!

Adam was not very interested in eating because he really only wanted to open his presents but he tried to humor me nonetheless.

Adam did NOT want cake for his birthday (cake is messy). He opted for his favorite cookies instead. I didn't have to spend any time making something or dirtying dishes and I still made him joyously happy. Yay me!

The cookie lover.

Caleb likes them too although not with the same gusto.

James decided it would be easier to eat the cookie off the floor instead of holding it in his hands. To each his own.

David was all in.

Adam finally got to open his presents and he was over the moon. Aunt Kate got him a micro jumping car.

She also gave him a case full of Nintendo 3DS games which confused him for just a minute since he doesn't have a 3DS.

He did manage to overcome his confusion for just a moment in order to show his dad how cool the games were. He had already seen them before because they used to be Aunt Kate's

We finally gave him what he was waiting for and cleared up his confusion. Look at that smile. So worth the money we spent on it.

James seems to think that the games were actually for him ;)

Eric decided to give the 3DS a quick ride first. Adam tried to wait patiently.......

Finally it was his turn to show dad his moves. Eric looks like he has a little 3DS envy.

My amazing birthday boy. I can't believe that he is getting so old so fast. Wasn't he just a little baby last month? I love him more and more each day.
