Fireworks! Fireworks! I love fireworks! And we had plenty of fireworks to set off this year, let me tell you.
My boys enjoying the first few fireworks. I guess it was too bright for James. Gosh they're cute.
I caught Jasie giving a yawn. The fireworks obviously bored her. Caleb thought she was giving a different non-verbal cue though.
He thought her mouth was agape in wonder so he followed suit. So cute!
I told everyone they better chipper up and look impressed because I was taking pictures for posterity. Eric tried to help me out by setting an example.
When his subtle example didn't work he tried something a little more blatant. Soon everyone was showing their true excitement.
Even Jasie chippered up.
Towards the end of the fireworks the boys all ended up in this blanket. It was cold and there were mosquitos. I think they were seeking refuge. This is where they were when one of the fireworks tipped over and started spitting fireballs everywhere. I was glad the boys were all in one place together. Some weeds across the street even caught on fire but Eric ran over and stamped it out. What a knight in shining armour.
I had googled how to take pictures of sparklers beforehand so I would be prepared but no one told me how to take pictures of small children who are moving with sparklers. The results were not quite what I expected but the boys thought sparklers were really cool and I love that these pictures show that. Eric lighting one for Caleb.
James and his sparkler.
Sparkler writing.
I love the intensity on his face. He just loves that it is doing what it is doing.
Yay Adam! Look at those swirls!
I burned my hand lighting one of the sparklers and it was quite painful for a while.
But this made it all worth it. What an amazing Fourth of July spent with family!
